Arthur Bell has been Managing Principal of the firm since its inception in 1974. He has spent much of his career involved in the commodities and hedge fund industry as a regulatory, tax, audit and business advisor. Art frequently speaks at conferences sponsored by leading industry associations and trade groups worldwide where he is often asked to discuss the impact of accounting and regulatory issues on the alternative investment industry along with hedge fund activity in the financial markets. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Managed Funds Association and is a member of the Futures Industry Association Editorial Advisory Board, the Pension Research Accounting Group based in London, and the Alternative Investment Management Association based in London. A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Art is licensed in Maryland and New York.
As principal in charge of the firm’s tax department, Scott focuses on tax consulting and compliance services for funds and operating entities that provide services in the alternative investments industry. He is also involved with the structuring of domestic and offshore hedge funds and commodity pools and has extensive experience with limited liability companies, S corporations, limited partnerships, and C corporations. He advises principals of management companies and related groups of operating entities to minimize entity-level U.S., state and city income taxes and owners, self employment and payroll taxes. Scott is a member of the Managed Funds Association and serves on its Tax Committee. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University with an MBA from the University of Maryland, Scott is licensed in Maryland, the District of Columbia, Georgia, and New York.
Bob is the principal in charge of the firm’s audit department and oversees the delivery of the firm’s audit and attestation services to hedge funds, commodity pools, investment advisors, commodity trading advisors, introducing brokers, and brokers and dealers. With extensive SEC, GAAP and statutory reporting experience, Bob also serves as the firm’s accounting and auditing technical coordinator. He has over 25 years of experience performing annual audits, performance capsule examinations, SAS#70 examinations, as well as consulting on the formation and design of alternative investment entities. Bob is a member of the Managed Funds Association, serving on its Communications Committee and frequently writing articles for the MFA Reporter. A graduate of Loyola College, Bob is licensed in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Wisconsin.
