Art has spent much of his career involved in the commodities and hedge fund industry as a regulatory, tax, audit and business advisor. He has a great appreciation for the industry, which is why he founded Arthur Bell, Certified Public Accountants, in 1974 to focus mainly on the individuals, funds and management companies in the alternative investment world.
A frequent speaker at worldwide conferences sponsored by leading industry associations and trade groups, Art presents on accounting, tax and regulatory trends relating to the industry. He recently served on the Managed Funds Association (MFA) Board of Directors and has been a Director, Treasurer and member of the MFA Executive Committee for most of the time since 1994. Art was also a member of the CFTC's Global Markets Advisory Committee. He is currently a member of the Futures Industry Association Editorial Advisory Board, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Pension Research Accounting Group (PRAG) based in London, the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) also based in London, and is on numerous industry committees and working groups.
Art has been the Managing Member of Arthur Bell, Certified Public Accountants, since 1974. He is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and a licensed CPA in Maryland.
When Art is out of the office, he can usually be found on the racetrack or traveling with family and friends.
