For over twenty years, Ken has worked with professional services, manufacturing, delivery, and retail organizations to develop their financial structures so that they can use financial reporting to paint a clear picture - even to non-accountants – of the operational states of businesses. His expertise in financial analysis draws on a clear understanding of how financial and operational elements mesh. The development and integration of technology with business processes are particular areas of expertise for Ken. His judgments about the application of practical technology to current problems result in innovative, high-value solutions with significantly enhanced ROI and improved operations. This practical approach to finances and technology has resulted in substantial business process improvements yielding cash flow, net income, and communication enhancements for numerous organizations.
In March of 2007, Ken became responsible for the financial and operational oversight of Arthur Bell, and in December 2011, he was named a Member of the firm. He oversees the firm’s financial strategy and many aspects of the firm’s operations, including its continuing education requirements, risk management, reporting, special projects, and policies encompassing record retention, billing, insurance and other areas. Ken works closely with the Members and heads of the firm’s technology, human resources and marketing departments to ensure cohesive and seamless operations. He also acts as one of the firm’s main liaisons with representatives of the accounting, legal, and banking industries. Previously, Ken was a Principal and CFO for a Family Office and Wealth Management firm specializing in providing highly customized services to ultra-high net worth families and their related entities. Simultaneously he was also CFO to a related firm providing complete private foundation services. He has also served as the Corporate Controller for two large private enterprises, and spent six years managing multiple investments and entities for a wealthy businessman, after spending several years in public accounting.
Ken is a member of the Managed Funds Association. He also serves as Vice President of the Baltimore chapter of the Association for Accounting Administration, an industry group dedicated to improving the administration and operations of CPA firms around the country. He is also on the advisory board of Tails of Hope, an animal rescue organization in Maryland, and recently retired as a Director and past President of an international automobile club.
A graduate of the University of Baltimore, Ken received his B.S. in Accounting with honors, and then received his MBA in Management from Loyola College in Maryland where he achieved membership in the business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma, and was elected to the Jesuit Honor Society Alpha Sigma Nu. Ken is a licensed CPA in Maryland, and has been a member of the MACPA and AICPA for approximately 20 years. In 2006, Ken was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky, although he is a Maryland native who loves cars and animals.
